Setting the Holiday Table
The holiday table is the one people photograph. At Tarzian West for Housewares, Brooklyn's neighborhood kitchen store since 1977, this is the serving side of the season: the platter the turkey goes on, the gravy boat that actually pours, the glasses you only bring out twice a year.
Platters & Serving Dishes. BIA Cordon Bleu rectangular and oval platters, a hand-painted Thanksgiving turkey platter from Cosmos Gifts, mango wood and salad bowls with servers, and olive wood serving spoons.
Gravy Boats. BIA Cordon Bleu belly and sauce boats and an HIC gravy boat with attached saucer, so nothing lands on the tablecloth.
Carving. Messermeister Avanta carving sets, Opinel carving knives and forks, HIC granny forks, Zwilling forged steak knives and a J.K. Adams Farmhouse carver board.
Glassware. Iittala Kartio tumblers, Aino Aalto tumblers and Essence white wine glasses, Riedel Vinum martini glasses, and vintage-reproduction fluted coupes from Creative Co-Op.
Small Touches. Reindeer-handled spoons and forks in stainless and brass, a stoneware squirrel butter dish, squirrel and acorn salt and pepper shakers, a ceramic rooster pitcher, and Tag pillar and taper candles.
Paper & Easy. My Mind's Eye paper plates in gingham, pumpkin and pie shapes, and Caspari paper napkins, for the nights you are not doing dishes.
