Le Creuset shaped this little cocotte after the Rouge Vif d'Etampes, the French heirloom pumpkin that stood in for the fairy tale coach, then built it to actually work. High-fired stoneware heats evenly, the porcelain enamel glaze shrugs off chips and stains, and the tight lid holds the moisture in, so a 12 oz portion of soup, gratin, or braised vegetables goes from the oven straight to the place setting.
